Backyard's Blossom
In some parts of the country, where the flowers may have been maybe frozen to hibernation, here in San Diego, the bloom is year round :). Since we live in a region with mild weather, there are always flowers around. Here are some more flowers from our yard which blooms almost year round.
Fuschia ( my favorite at home )
Euphorbia Milli
Oleander ( this have flower 360 days of the year )
This weekend, I was planning to take some sunset pictures by the lake surrounded with layers of hills. However, we started hiking early enough :( that we were done before sunset, therefore, we were not on the side of the lake that will have both water and hills at sunset. But thankfully, despite having no sunset reflection on water, I was still happy with my sunset picture for today.
Sunset from Lake Poway
Where is the lake? Here is Lake Poway, also taken at sunset, but this one looks East. I planned to be at the East side of the lake at sunset so I could take picture of the lake with hills at sunset, but then, we finished the hike earlier than planned. Last time, we were here, we were still hidden in the canyon and missed the sunset when we reached the top of the hill :( .
Lake Poway
Because I took this picture at sunset, the color of the water reflects some colors from the reflected hills. Just imagine me standing in between this lake and the sunset picture above. Looking West was the sunset pictures above, and looking East is the lake.

Alone But Not Lonely
Anyway, let me deviate from "Flowers at Fall" post. During our hike today, we saw a lot of birds, it is an excitement for me...the first one that surprised me is this bird which was my first time to see at the lake.
you can click on the image to enlarge
This is not very clear since this bird is far from me and I did not bring my zoom lens :(
Then, saw a hawk with his taunting eyes ( again, sorry for low quality since I did not bring my zooming lens).
And of course, what else but egrets and waterfowls? They are a common sight at the lake though. I can't wait for spring to see white pelicans here again.
Have a happy weekend everyone.

Your one post does it all.
I have gone through a complete year of blogging with Ratty, and have read the four-seasons posts.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am eager to see yours as well, which talk with beautiful pictures.
I like seeing the colorful flowers right now. The ones I see are all gone now. I learned to like them, and now I miss them like a long lost friend.

ReplyDeleteMy rose bushes bloom all year here in Florida. The others pretty much hibernate for the winter. I love the pics.
ReplyDeleteIf I hadn't chosen to live in the San Francisco area, I would be in San Diego. I love it there. Your photos are always spectacular and today's, of course, are no exception, with something for everyone. I've always loved fuschias. We have a lot of them around here. They seem to do well, even in foggier climes.
