Orchids from our Backyard in my Hometown, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines
The Salitype Society, where I am also a member of the site, is hosting " Our Philippines " meme, where we feature our beautiful country, the Philippines.
I am from the province of Negros Occidental, which is located in the Western Visayas Region. I was born, and raised in Bacolod City,
the capital city of the province of Negros Occidental.
My Hometown Sunset
In this post, let my memories bring my story to how I have grown to love the great outdoors!
Outside our house, just before I migrated to US, year 2002
Danjuagan Island Marine Sanctuary
One of the 7 Waterfalls in Mambucal Mountain Resort
View of the town of San Carlos from the top of the mountain
Paperkite Butterfly, Mambukal Mountain
Don Salvador Benedicto Mountains
I may call San Diego, California my home now, but, Bacolod City, Philippines, will always be HOME to me.
You come from a spectacular part of the Philippines. There is so much beauty there. I know there are all sorts of reasons to immigrate to the U. S. but, sometimes, it seems you really do leave so much behind.

Just thought you might like to see my respond on Self Sagacity since you are one busy woman! :-) Betchai, the only thing I could think of is that you have many quality links, for example, most people, Icy, myself, Judy, Diane etc, have decent page ranks and we all linked to you, thereby you have many good sites' support. Plus, don't discount the fact that your content - the quality of your photos are so amazing, it's a given.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place u come from. I follow a blog by Dong Ho. I agree Phillipines is one of the most varied n beautiful place in the world
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful place. It does explain your love of nature. It must have been a hard decision to leave it.

ReplyDeleteI have been to Bacolod twice but never really had the chance to roam around the place.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a wonderful place and no wonder why you love nature. You look so cool in that 2002 photo :)
My memories lingers on when I explore your photos especially the falls in Mambucal. And, of course, the beautiful spots around Bacolod City.

ReplyDeleteAwesome! Your love and affinity to anything naturally beautiful is evident :-) . here's hoping the great outdoors will be forever preserved and spared from commercialization. My hometown was not spared. The 'playground' I once loved is now replaced with a highway. Nakakalungkot.
ReplyDeleteYour pl[ace is beautiful AteB! Just like yo]u I grew up in a coastal part of Donsol and malapit din sa mountains that's why I love outdoors too.
ReplyDeleteMs. Betchai! I didn't know you're from Bacolod. Ilogga ka pala? Do you know the Llasos or the Somosos there? The ones who are in Las Vegas now are our family friends. I just thought of asking. Truly, Bacolod is beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteI like that you made a great post about the Philippines! Hope you could share more about the beauty of our motherland.
ReplyDeleteSo true, Betchai. There's no place like home (home in Philippines). I like to go home every year, the cost and the travel time kills me, so I plan my family vacation most likely every 3 years or whenever I feel homesick.
ReplyDeleteBeen hearing lots of great things about Negros Occidental. And the city hall looks magnificent! :)
ReplyDeleteOh Ate! You are so pretty, especially with that smile in your face. Breathtaking! ♥
ReplyDeleteNegros Occidental is a nice place. Never been there, but judging by these shots... it's worth a trip, for sure.
