Point Dume State Beach, Malibu, CA
We went here after our hike at Solstice Canyon Deer Valley Loop Trail, for lunch at The Sunset Restaurant which is an ocean front restaurant outside of Point Dume State Park. While waiting for our lunch, we were entertained by several dolphins playing in the surf. After lunch, my cousin and I took a relaxing stroll to the top of Point Dume. The complete Point Dume hike is 4 miles round trip, 400 ft change in elevation. Here are some more pictures of our after lunch stroll :)
some sand verbena in the middle of summer.....

now on top of Point Dume, the brown plants are dried coreopsis ( tree sunflowers), I could just imagine how pretty this was during spring.

a visit is not complete without a self-photo :)
I am so glad we took this short hike for truth is, though this may be a short hike, but the reward for me is so much better than the reward at the much longer trail at Solstice Canyon. Here, there is so much beauty to take in. But maybe, I came to hike at Solstice Canyon late summer when it was too dry where the scenery there did not impress much. Whereas, Point Dume remains beautiful even if the vegetation already was too dry. I do not snob short hikes, if it is as beautiful as Point Dume. :) I actually plan to go back here spring time, since I can imagine how beautiful this would be when the wildflowers would bloom since I saw so many dried coreopsis ( tree sunflowers).
it surely would look heavenly with wildflowers of Spring wonderwoman! I so love your portraits here!!!!! make them my most recent favorite photo of yours! :D gee sigh....all the blue is making me feel at peace and jubilant too!!! love yah...Point Dume...another place added to my bucket list of places to one sweet day visit :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful beach! I think I've seen that particular area where you are sitting near a cliff in "She's All That" movie in the 90's. I wish to visit that place on our next California visit. Too bad, we didn't have time to explore much of California's coastal areas. But looking at the beautiful pictures of Malibu makes me feel like I have been there :)
